Une aide qui arrive \u00e0 point nomm\u00e9 pour le pays qui lutte contre des inondations historiques et qui est confront\u00e9 \u00e0 une grave crise \u00e9conomique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce pr\u00eat du FMI, n\u00e9goci\u00e9 de longue date, est une bouff\u00e9e d\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne pour le Pakistan, confront\u00e9 \u00e0 des\u00a0inondations qui ont submerg\u00e9 un tiers du territoire. L&rsquo;institution avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 octroy\u00e9 en 2019 un pr\u00eat de 6 milliards de dollars dans le cadre d&rsquo;un plan de sauvetage conclu avec Imran Khan, alors Premier ministre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En plus de cette nouvelle somme de 1,1 milliard de dollars, le FMI va encore ajouter 500 millions de dollars dans son effort de soutien qui doit s&rsquo;\u00e9tendre jusqu&rsquo;en juin 2023. Mais le Pakistan aura besoin de bien plus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selon le ministre de la Planification et du D\u00e9veloppement, il faudrait 10 milliards de dollars pour r\u00e9parer les d\u00e9g\u00e2ts caus\u00e9s par les pluies de mousson au niveau des habitations et des autres infrastructures, mais aussi dans l\u2019agriculture. Les Nations unies ont d\u2019ailleurs lanc\u00e9 un\u00a0appel urgent aux dons, \u00e0 hauteur de 160 millions de dollars, pour venir en aide aux plus de cinq millions de victimes sur place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ces inondations surviennent au pire moment pour le Pakistan, plong\u00e9 dans une grave crise \u00e9conomique qui se traduit par une inflation galopante, une d\u00e9valuation de sa monnaie, la roupie, et une baisse consid\u00e9rable des r\u00e9serves de changes. Ces derni\u00e8res sont indispensables au paiement des importations et au remboursement d&rsquo;une dette tr\u00e8s \u00e9lev\u00e9e.
