Les m\u00e9dias anglophones relaient l’arriv\u00e9e de l’hyposmie comme un \u00ab top \u00bb sympt\u00f4me de la\u00a0Covid-19. Mais est-ce vraiment une nouvelle manifestation de la maladie ?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0 quelques jours de No\u00ebl, le pic de la neuvi\u00e8me\u00a0vague\u00a0\u00e9pid\u00e9mique de\u00a0Covid-19\u00a0est derri\u00e8re nous. Environ 50 000 cas sont confirm\u00e9s tous les jours, soit une baisse de 10 % par rapport \u00e0 la semaine derni\u00e8re. La situation \u00e0 l’h\u00f4pital est encore tendue, puisque les admissions en soins critiques\u00a0continuent toujours de grimper :\u00a010 % de plus en comparaison avec\u00a0la semaine pass\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avec\u00a0la triple \u00e9pid\u00e9mie\u00a0de\u00a0grippe, de Covid-19 et de\u00a0bronchiolite\u00a0chez les enfants, il est parfois difficile de savoir quel\u00a0virus\u00a0nous a contamin\u00e9s sur la simple base des sympt\u00f4mes. Les m\u00e9dias anglophones relaient l’apparition d’un\u00a0sympt\u00f4me\u00a0de la\u00a0Covid-19 jug\u00e9 comme \u00ab nouveau \u00bb et\u00a0\u00ab myst\u00e9rieux \u00bb\u00a0: l’hyposmie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’hyposmie, une perte d’odorat partielle<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, la capacit\u00e9 du coronavirus a affect\u00e9 le syst\u00e8me olfactif est connu depuis le d\u00e9but de la pand\u00e9mie. L’hyposmie est une perte partielle et temporaire de l’odorat, un sympt\u00f4me tr\u00e8s commun chez les personnes ayant la Covid-19 ou toute\u00a0autre\u00a0infection\u00a0respiratoire. En revanche, l’anosmie\u00a0est une perte totale de l’odorat temporaire ou permanente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Une \u00e9tude allemande parue en 2020\u00a0indique que l’hyposmie touche environ 30 % des personnes infect\u00e9es par le coronavirus. Les tests ont \u00e9t\u00e9 men\u00e9s avant l’apparition\u00a0du variant Omicron, il se pourrait qu’avec son apparition\u00a0les pertes d’odorat tiennent plus de l’hyposmie que de l’anosmie, tr\u00e8s fr\u00e9quente au d\u00e9but de la pand\u00e9mie. Mais ce sympt\u00f4me n’est ni\u00a0nouveau ni myst\u00e9rieux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
