Seize rhinoc\u00e9ros blancs venus d\u2019Afrique du Sud, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 transf\u00e9r\u00e9s en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9 dans le parc national de la Garamba(Haut-Uele), vendredi 9 juin, a confirm\u00e9 ce samedi l\u2019Institut congolais pour la conservation de la nature(ICCN). <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cette initiative vise \u00e0 restaurer la richesse compl\u00e8te du complexe de la Garamba apr\u00e8s que le dernier rhinoc\u00e9ros blanc a \u00e9t\u00e9 victime du braconnage\u00a0en 2006, affirme le service v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaire du parc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les seize rhinoc\u00e9ros blancs proviennent d\u2019une r\u00e9serve priv\u00e9e du Kwazulu Natal en Afrique du Sud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 transport\u00e9s par avion en deux rotations jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la piste d\u2019atterrissage de Doko, de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Kibali mines \u00e0 Durba dans le territoire de Watsa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 ensuite embarqu\u00e9s par camion et achemin\u00e9s jusqu\u2019au parc national de la Garamba, leur nouvel habitat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sur place, un personnel qualifi\u00e9 et un v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaire vont superviser leur acclimatation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour l\u2019ICCN, cette r\u00e9introduction fait partie d\u2019une strat\u00e9gie globale de conservation visant \u00e0 assurer la survie de cette esp\u00e8ce menac\u00e9e d\u2019extinction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le parc de la Garamba est un lieu s\u00fbr qui b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie d\u2019une protection ad\u00e9quate, rassure l\u2019ICCN. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cette nouvelle acquisition animali\u00e8re, le parc va attirer encore plus des touristes et donc g\u00e9n\u00e9rer des b\u00e9n\u00e9fices pour les communaut\u00e9s locales et tous les Congolais de mani\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Milan Yves Ngangay, le directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de l\u2019ICCN qui cog\u00e8re le parc avec l\u2019organisation internationale African Parks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce transfert crucial des rhinoc\u00e9ros blancs a \u00e9t\u00e9 rendu possible gr\u00e2ce au soutien financier de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Barrick Gold corporation, propri\u00e9taire de la mine d\u2019or de Kibali.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le rhinoc\u00e9ros blanc, plus gros mammif\u00e8re terrestre apr\u00e8s l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9phant, \u00e9tait l\u2019esp\u00e8ce embl\u00e9matique et end\u00e9mique au parc de Garamba avant que le dernier sp\u00e9cimen ne disparaisse \u00e0 la suite du braconnage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
