Ce samedi, Coco Gauff a emprunt\u00e9 les traces de son idole en devenant la plus jeune joueuse \u00e0 remporter l’US Open: \u00e0 19 ans, l’Am\u00e9ricaine a battu la Bi\u00e9lorusse Aryna Sabalenka en trois manches (2-6, 6-3, 6-2).<\/p>\n\n\n\nTout de suite apr\u00e8s sa balle de match, la native d’Atlanta a rejoint les tribunes et son box, pour y enlacer son papa Corey Gauff, qui est \u00e9galement son coach, dans un grand moment d’\u00e9motion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La joueuse de 19 ans avait jou\u00e9 la finale \u00e0\u00a0Roland-Garros\u00a0en 2022, mais n’avait encore jamais d\u00e9pass\u00e9 les quarts de finale \u00e0 Flushing Meadows. Elle sera troisi\u00e8me mondiale lundi, le meilleur classement de sa carri\u00e8re. Aryna Sabalenka, malgr\u00e9 la d\u00e9faite, sera elle num\u00e9ro 1 mondiale au prochain classement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
En d\u00e9but de finale, Coco Gauff, soutenue par les 24.000 spectateurs du court Arthur-Ashe, a pourtant \u00e9t\u00e9 totalement d\u00e9pass\u00e9e par Sabalenka qui, avec ses grands coups puissants, a imm\u00e9diatement pris le jeu \u00e0 son compte, alors que l’Am\u00e9ricaine se contentait de remettre la balle, si possible dans le court. Mais la B\u00e9larusse a commis tellement de fautes directes qu’elle a maintenu son adversaire dans le match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apr\u00e8s avoir r\u00e9ussi le break d’entr\u00e9e pour mener 2-0, Sabalenka a offert le d\u00e9break \u00e0 son adversaire en commettant deux doubles fautes et deux fautes directes sur son jeu de service suivant. Puis, malgr\u00e9 de nouvelles \u00e9normes fautes directes, comme cette vol\u00e9e haute consciencieusement jet\u00e9e dans le bas du filet, la B\u00e9larusse a repris le service de Gauff et r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 confirmer le break (4-2) puis a remporter encore les deux jeux suivants pour empocher le set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mais Gauff n’a pas baiss\u00e9 les bras, constatant qu’il lui suffisait de faire jouer son adversaire. Dans la deuxi\u00e8me manche, elle a ainsi r\u00e9ussi le break pour mener 3-1 en profitant d’une double faute de Sabalenka (la quatri\u00e8me). Malgr\u00e9 une balle de d\u00e9break, elle a confirm\u00e9 son avantage et profit\u00e9 de la 16e faute directe du set de son adversaire pour \u00e9galiser \u00e0 une manche partout. Dans la foul\u00e9e, l’Am\u00e9ricaine a pris le service de la B\u00e9larusse… deux fois.
