L’\u00c9thiopienne Tigst Assefa a marqu\u00e9 l’histoire de l’athl\u00e9tisme ce dimanche en remportant le marathon de Londres avec un temps exceptionnel de 2 heures 15 minutes et 50 secondes. Cette performance \u00e9tablit un nouveau record du monde pour une course exclusivement f\u00e9minine, surpassant de 26 secondes le pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent record d\u00e9tenu par la K\u00e9nyane Peres Jepchirchir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Une victoire en forme de revanche<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cette victoire rev\u00eat une signification particuli\u00e8re pour Assefa, qui avait \u00e9chou\u00e9 de justesse lors des \u00e9ditions pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes. L’an dernier \u00e0 Londres, elle avait perdu le titre pour seulement sept secondes. Aux Jeux Olympiques de Paris, l’\u00e9cart n’avait \u00e9t\u00e9 que de trois secondes. Cette fois, la coureuse de 28 ans a domin\u00e9 la course de bout en bout, laissant ses concurrentes \u00e0 plus de trois minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D\u00e9roulement de la course<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

D\u00e8s le d\u00e9part, Assefa a impos\u00e9 un rythme soutenu que seule Joyciline Jepkosgei a pu suivre dans les premiers kilom\u00e8tres. Sifan Hassan, m\u00e9daill\u00e9e d’argent olympique, a progressivement perdu du terrain avant d’\u00eatre d\u00e9finitivement distanc\u00e9e apr\u00e8s le 30e kilom\u00e8tre. La victoire d’Assefa ne faisait plus aucun doute lorsqu’elle a acc\u00e9l\u00e9r\u00e9 dans les derniers kilom\u00e8tres, franchissant la ligne d’arriv\u00e9e pr\u00e8s de Buckingham Palace avec une avance confortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans la course masculine, le K\u00e9nyan Sebastian Sawe a confirm\u00e9 son excellente forme en s’imposant en 2 heures 2 minutes et 20 secondes. Cette victoire fait suite \u00e0 son succ\u00e8s au marathon de Valence il y a quatre mois. Sawe a devanc\u00e9 l’Ougandais Jacob Kiplimo de plus d’une minute, dans un plateau pourtant relev\u00e9 comprenant le champion olympique Tamirat Tola et le l\u00e9gendaire Eliud Kipchoge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Performances remarquables en handisport<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le Suisse Marcel Hug a remport\u00e9 pour la septi\u00e8me fois le marathon de Londres en fauteuil roulant, dont cinq victoires cons\u00e9cutives. Chez les femmes, sa compatriote Catherine Debrunner a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 une performance exceptionnelle, terminant avec un temps qui l’aurait class\u00e9e parmi les dix premiers hommes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
