Alfred Brendel est mort ce 17 juin \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de 94 ans \u00e0 son domicile londonien. Interpr\u00e8te de Beethoven, Mozart et surtout Schubert, il est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme un interpr\u00e8te de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence pour un grand nombre d\u2019\u0153uvres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alfred Brendel portait de petites lunettes. Il \u00e9tait connu pour son humour fin. Musicien exigeant, dont la vie \u00e9tait d\u00e9volue \u00e0 la musique, il \u00e9tait aussi essayiste et po\u00e8te. Cet intellectuel, curieux, passionn\u00e9 par les arts, donnait encore des conf\u00e9rences et des masterclass, bien apr\u00e8s la fin de sa carri\u00e8re de concertiste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il na\u00eet le 5 janvier 1931 dans une famille allemande \u00e0 Wiesenberg en Moravie, aujourd\u2019hui situ\u00e9e en <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rfi.fr\/fr\/tag\/r\u00e9publique-tch\u00e8que\/\"><strong>R\u00e9publique tch\u00e8que<\/strong><\/a>. Son apprentissage du piano commence \u00e0 Zagreb en ex-Yougoslavie. Lors de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la famille du jeune Alfred est contrainte de s\u2019installer en <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rfi.fr\/fr\/tag\/autriche\/\">Autriche<\/a><\/strong>, \u00e0 Graz. C\u2019est l\u00e0 que le tr\u00e8s jeune pianiste, inscrit au Conservatoire, s\u2019initie \u00e0 la composition, comme un compl\u00e9ment indispensable \u00e0 sa formation d\u2019interpr\u00e8te. Il est, par ailleurs, f\u00e9ru de peinture, de po\u00e9sie et de litt\u00e9rature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De ces jeunes ann\u00e9es, plong\u00e9es dans le chaos de l\u2019histoire, Alfred Brendel gardera un profond sentiment de n\u2019appartenir \u00e0 aucune patrie, cultivant une certaine ind\u00e9pendance d\u2019esprit. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apr\u00e8s la fin de la guerre, \u00e0 17 ans, il donne son premier r\u00e9cital solo \u00e0 Graz. Puis, il suit en auditeur libre les cours dispens\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie des Beaux-Arts de Vienne. C\u2019est en \u00e9coutant les grands pianistes de l\u2019\u00e9poque, qu\u2019il se forme, en autodidacte, d\u00e9veloppant ainsi une expressivit\u00e9 et une sensibilit\u00e9 toute personnelle. Il assistera quand m\u00eame aux cours magistraux de Paul Baumgartner (\u00e0 B\u00e2le en Suisse) et \u00e0 ceux d\u2019Eduard Steuermann (\u00e0 Salzbourg en Autriche).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-prise-en-charge-des-contenus-embarqu-s wp-block-embed-prise-en-charge-des-contenus-embarqu-s\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/youtube.com\/watch?v=cBisjKwg43U%3Fsi%3DvcZgS0s0TvVRp3mN\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Install\u00e9 \u00e0 Vienne en 1950, il est rep\u00e9r\u00e9 par le chef d\u2019orchestre Charles Adler et soutenu par la Society of Performing Artists. C\u2019est ainsi qu\u2019on lui donne l\u2019opportunit\u00e9 d\u2019enregistrer pour la premi\u00e8re fois&nbsp;et c\u2019est une \u0153uvre tardive de Franz Liszt. L\u2019ann\u00e9e suivante, ce sera le Concerto n\u00b05 de Serge Prokofiev. Ces ann\u00e9es sont difficiles pour le jeune homme qui enchaine de multiples concerts en Europe et en Am\u00e9rique latine. Le d\u00e9clic a lieu en 1958 quand trois labels lui font une offre en m\u00eame temps. Finalement, il enregistre pour l\u2019Am\u00e9ricain Vox la quasi int\u00e9grale des \u0153uvres pour piano de Ludwig van Beethoven. C\u2019est une premi\u00e8re. Sa carri\u00e8re est lanc\u00e9e. Le grand public le d\u00e9couvre, quant \u00e0 lui, au Festival de Salzbourg en 1960.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pendant ses tourn\u00e9es incessantes entre 1965 et 1975, il signe un contrat d\u2019exclusivit\u00e9 avec le label Philips (1969) qui lui permet de toucher un plus grand public encore. Il devient la t\u00eate d\u2019affiche des plus prestigieuses salles de concert \u00e0 travers le monde. Il se produit avec les plus grands chefs, le N\u00e9erlandais Bernard Haitink, les Britanniques Neville Gardiner et Simon Rattle ou encore l\u2019Italien Claudio Abbado. Il donne son dernier concert au Musikverein de Vienne en 2008 apr\u00e8s une carri\u00e8re exceptionnelle d\u2019une soixantaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nombreux sont les prix qu\u2019il re\u00e7oit \u00e0 travers le monde, mais ce sont ses enregistrements qui rendent compte au mieux de son talent unique&nbsp;: int\u00e9grales des sonates de Franz Schubert, int\u00e9grale des sonates de Beethoven, int\u00e9grale des concertos pour piano et orchestre de Mozart, concertos pour piano de Prokofiev, Bart\u00f3k et Sch\u00f6nberg, etc. En 2016, Universal sort sous le label Decca, h\u00e9ritier des enregistrements Philips, 114 CDs soit un coffret nomm\u00e9&nbsp;<em>Alfred Brendel.
