Parmi les moteurs de cette croissance figurent l\u2019agrandissement de mines comme Kansanshi, qui a livr\u00e9 171\u2009000 tonnes en 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le canadien First Quantum Minerals a inaugur\u00e9 le mardi 19 ao\u00fbt 2025, un projet de 1,25 milliard&nbsp;$ \u00e0 sa mine de cuivre Kansanshi en Zambie. Au-del\u00e0 de la port\u00e9e symbolique de la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie, pr\u00e9sid\u00e9e par le chef de l\u2019Etat, Hakainde Hichilema, ce projet vient participer \u00e0 l\u2019objectif du pays de produire 3 millions de tonnes de cuivre d\u2019ici 2031.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Baptis\u00e9 S3, ce projet pr\u00e9voit une nouvelle usine de traitement qui double quasiment la capacit\u00e9 de broyage du minerai et augmente de 25% la capacit\u00e9 de la fonderie. Avec cet investissement, le premier d\u2019une telle envergure dans le secteur cuprif\u00e8re zambien depuis pr\u00e8s d\u2019une d\u00e9cennie, Kansanshi devrait produire en moyenne 250\u2009000 tonnes de cuivre par an jusqu\u2019en 2044.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenceecofin.com\/images\/2025\/1-cuivre_copy.jpg\" alt=\"1 cuivre copy\" style=\"width:669px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Cela correspondrait \u00e0 une hausse de 46% par rapport aux 171\u2009000 tonnes produites en 2024. La m\u00eame ann\u00e9e, la Zambie a produit 820\u2009670 tonnes de cuivre, soit une hausse de 12% en glissement annuel. Cette progression s\u2019explique par la hausse de la production de First Quantum, mais aussi par la reprise des op\u00e9rations de Vedanta \u00e0 Konkola Copper Mines et la relance de Mopani sous le contr\u00f4le d\u2019International Resources Holding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ces facteurs devraient continuer de soutenir la production nationale dans les prochaines ann\u00e9es.
