Le Premier ministre Abiy Ahmed a officiellement lanc\u00e9 jeudi un projet structurant pour l’\u00e9conomie \u00e9thiopienne : la construction de la raffinerie de p\u00e9trole de Gode. Implant\u00e9e dans la r\u00e9gion Somali, cette infrastructure a pour ambition de r\u00e9duire une d\u00e9pendance aux importations co\u00fbtant pr\u00e8s de 5 milliards de dollars annuels au pays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un projet aux capacit\u00e9s significatives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pr\u00e9vue pour produire 3,5 millions de tonnes de carburant raffin\u00e9 par an, la raffinerie sera aliment\u00e9e par le p\u00e9trole brut du champ de Hilala. Elle est le fruit d’un partenariat entre le conglom\u00e9rat chinois Golden Concord Group Limited (GCL) et Ethiopia Investment Holdings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’aboutissement d’un potentiel longtemps inexploit\u00e9<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce lancement couronne plus d’un si\u00e8cle d’explorations dans le bassin de l’Ogaden. Malgr\u00e9 la d\u00e9couverte d’importantes r\u00e9serves de gaz d\u00e8s les ann\u00e9es 1970, l’ins\u00e9curit\u00e9 et les d\u00e9fis financiers ont constamment repouss\u00e9 la concr\u00e9tisation de tels projets. L’entr\u00e9e de GCL en 2013 a relanc\u00e9 l’exploitation de ce potentiel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Une strat\u00e9gie industrielle plus large<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

La raffinerie de Gode n’est pas un projet isol\u00e9. Elle s’accompagne de la construction d’une usine d’engrais en partenariat avec le groupe nig\u00e9rian Dangote. Ensemble, ces deux installations forment un p\u00f4le industriel int\u00e9gr\u00e9, au c\u0153ur du plan d\u00e9cennal \u00e9thiopien visant \u00e0 stimuler la croissance industrielle et les infrastructures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
