Le Premier ministre Benyamin Netanyahu a cr\u00e9\u00e9 la surprise, dimanche 30 novembre, en soumettant une demande de gr\u00e2ce au pr\u00e9sident Isaac Herzog. Une requ\u00eate exceptionnelle, d’autant plus que Benyamin Netanyahu, toujours en plein proc\u00e8s, n’y reconna\u00eet aucune culpabilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans sa lettre au pr\u00e9sident, le Premier ministre<\/a><\/strong> affirme que cette gr\u00e2ce pr\u00e9sidentielle \u00ab permettrait de r\u00e9parer les divisions entre les diff\u00e9rentes parties du peuple et d’apaiser les tensions<\/em> \u00bb, renfor\u00e7ant ainsi la \u00ab r\u00e9silience nationale<\/em> \u00bb, rapporte notre correspondant \u00e0 J\u00e9rusalem, Michel Paul<\/strong>. \u00ab Je suis persuad\u00e9, comme de nombreux Isra\u00e9liens<\/a><\/strong>, que la fin imm\u00e9diate de ce proc\u00e8s permettra de r\u00e9duire les flammes et permettra de r\u00e9aliser une large r\u00e9conciliation dont nous avons tant besoin. Je m\u2019attends que tous ceux qui aspirent au bien de l\u2019\u00c9tat apportent leur soutien \u00e0 cette requ\u00eate <\/em>\u00bb, a estim\u00e9 Benyamin Netanyahu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Benyamin Netanyahu, qui nie toute faute dans ces affaires, est r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement entendu dans le cadre d’au moins trois proc\u00e9dures judiciaires, dans lesquelles aucun jugement n’a encore \u00e9t\u00e9 rendu. Tout en affirmant vouloir mener le proc\u00e8s \u00e0 terme pour prouver son innocence, le Premier ministre a ensuite justifi\u00e9 cette demande au nom de \u00ab l’int\u00e9r\u00eat public<\/em> \u00bb dans une vid\u00e9o diffus\u00e9e par ses services, mettant en avant les \u00ab immenses d\u00e9fis<\/em> \u00bb que le pays doit relever. Rappelant que son proc\u00e8s avait d\u00e9but\u00e9 il y a pr\u00e8s de six ans, il a aussi affirm\u00e9 que t\u00e9moigner trois fois par semaine \u00e9tait \u00ab une exigence impossible \u00e0 satisfaire <\/em>\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le Premier ministre a \u00e9galement soulign\u00e9 que la fin de son proc\u00e8s lui permettrait de consacrer toute son \u00e9nergie \u00e0 \u00ab renforcer l’\u00c9tat d’Isra\u00ebl <\/em>\u00bb et de s’attaquer \u00e0 des probl\u00e8mes comme le syst\u00e8me judiciaire et les m\u00e9dias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La demande se distingue par l’absence in\u00e9dite d’aveu de culpabilit\u00e9. Benyamin Netanyahu a m\u00eame fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 la gr\u00e2ce accord\u00e9e \u00e0 l’ancien pr\u00e9sident am\u00e9ricain Richard Nixon par Gerald Ford, o\u00f9 aucune culpabilit\u00e9 n’avait \u00e9t\u00e9 reconnue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Une demande examin\u00e9e \u00ab avec responsabilit\u00e9 et s\u00e9rieux<\/em> \u00bb<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Le pr\u00e9sident Herzog<\/a><\/strong> a indiqu\u00e9 qu’il examinerait la demande \u00ab avec responsabilit\u00e9 et s\u00e9rieux<\/em> \u00bb. Cependant, la conseill\u00e8re juridique du gouvernement, Gali Baharav-Miara, devrait s’y opposer fermement. Benyamin Netanyahu affirme placer l’int\u00e9r\u00eat g\u00e9n\u00e9ral avant son int\u00e9r\u00eat personnel, malgr\u00e9 sa conviction d’\u00eatre totalement acquitt\u00e9. Le pr\u00e9sident am\u00e9ricain avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 demand\u00e9 au pr\u00e9sident Herzog d’accorder cette gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 Benyamin Netanyahu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En septembre, Isaac Herzog avait laiss\u00e9 entendre qu’il pourrait accorder une telle gr\u00e2ce, d\u00e9clarant dans un entretien \u00e0 la radio de l’arm\u00e9e que le proc\u00e8s du Premier ministre \u00ab pesait lourdement sur la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 isra\u00e9lienne<\/em> \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0 76 ans, il est le Premier ministre isra\u00e9lien ayant pass\u00e9 le plus grand nombre d’ann\u00e9es en exercice, avec plus de 18 ans \u00e0 la t\u00eate d’Isra\u00ebl depuis 1996. Il a annonc\u00e9 qu’il se pr\u00e9senterait aux prochaines \u00e9lections, qui auront lieu avant la fin de l’ann\u00e9e 2026. Au cours de son mandat actuel, qui a d\u00e9but\u00e9 fin 2022, le leader du Likoud a propos\u00e9 des r\u00e9formes judiciaires de grande envergure qui, selon ses d\u00e9tracteurs, visaient \u00e0 affaiblir les tribunaux. Son projet a d\u00e9clench\u00e9 des manifestations massives qui n’ont pris fin qu’apr\u00e8s le d\u00e9but de la guerre dans la bande de Gaza, d\u00e9clench\u00e9e par l’attaque sans pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent du Hamas en Isra\u00ebl le 7 octobre 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le Premier ministre Benyamin Netanyahu compara\u00eet dans trois dossiers :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans la premi\u00e8re affaire, M. Netanyahu et son \u00e9pouse, Sara, sont accus\u00e9s d’avoir accept\u00e9 pour plus de 260.000 dollars de produits de luxe (cigares, bijoux, champagne) de la part de milliardaires, notamment du producteur hollywoodien d’origine isra\u00e9lienne Arnon Milchan et l’homme d’affaires australien James Packer, en \u00e9change de faveurs politiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans la deuxi\u00e8me, le Premier ministre est poursuivi pour avoir tent\u00e9 de n\u00e9gocier une couverture plus favorable de la part d’Arnon Mozes, \u00e9diteur du quotidien Yedioth Aharonoth<\/em>, premier quotidien national payant, en \u00e9change de la promesse d’une loi qui aurait entrav\u00e9 la circulation du journal gratuit Israel Hayom<\/em>, titre le plus lu en Isra\u00ebl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans le dernier dossier, M. Netanyahu est accus\u00e9 d’avoir tent\u00e9 de faciliter une fusion souhait\u00e9e par un ami proche, Shaul Elovitch, alors actionnaire majoritaire de Bezeq, le plus grand groupe de t\u00e9l\u00e9communications du pays, en \u00e9change d’une couverture favorable de sa politique sur le site web d’information populaire Walla, \u00e9galement propri\u00e9t\u00e9 de M.
